Completion documentation

MWELO Irrigation Audits & Completion Documentation

California’s Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance (MWELO) helps new and renovated landscapes use water responsibly. If your project needs completion documentation, an irrigation audit can show how the installed system performs and identify adjustments before the project is handed over.

The audit report is one part of the larger completion package. We can help you identify what the agency reviewing your project has requested and shape the audit around the system and stage of work.

Field work

What an Irrigation Audit Can Include

  • System inspection and operating-pressure checks
  • Coverage and runoff observations
  • Applicable field testing and distribution-uniformity measurements
  • Controller and scheduling review
  • Documented findings and recommended corrections

For a new installation, an audit documents how the finished system waters the landscape. For an existing property, an evaluation can reveal where coverage, pressure, or scheduling could improve. We tailor field checks to the system and the questions you need answered.

For Builders and Project Teams

Bring us in before the final inspection to plan field testing around your installation and documentation needs. Tell us which city or county is reviewing the project, where it stands, and what plans or permit conditions you have received so we can discuss the right audit scope and timing.

Established properties

Existing Landscape Evaluations

Existing systems can be evaluated for uneven watering, runoff, pressure problems, and opportunities to improve scheduling. This can help clarify whether corrections, repairs, or a broader renovation make sense.

QWEL CERTIFIED

Experienced. Qualified. Local.

Keith Hamm combines nearly 30 years of landscape experience with Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper (QWEL) certification through an EPA WaterSense-labeled program.

For property owners and project teams, that means a local resource for evaluating irrigation performance, identifying wasted water, and preparing audit documentation for applicable MWELO requirements.

Licensed & local

Audit and Repair From One Licensed Contractor

C-27 licensed

Living Earth holds an active California C-27 Landscape Contractor license (CA LIC. #846559), covering irrigation installation, repair and renovation.

Findings you can act on

California requires a contractor's license for work over $500 in labor and materials. When an audit finds broken heads, pressure problems or zoning issues, we can make the corrections and retest, without bringing in another crew.

Local scheduling

Based in McKinleyville, we can reach Humboldt and Del Norte County sites without long-distance travel costs, and return promptly for retests before a final inspection.
