Many projects overlap more than one trade, so the goal is not to force every job into a narrow category. It is to understand the property, define the work clearly, and build or repair what makes sense.
Design • Build • Consult • Repair • Maintain. Custom ponds, natural ecosystem ponds, pondless waterfalls, streams, and water features planned and built for your property. Services also include design consultation, filtration and circulation, repairs, rebuilds, seasonal maintenance, and full cleanouts—supporting both new creations and established systems throughout their life.
Decks, stairs, railings, fences, gates, sheds, small outdoor structures, repairs, rebuilds, and custom site-specific work. Projects may involve new construction, selective repair, complete replacement, or creative solutions that do not fit a standard category.
Patios, walkways, entries, retaining walls, stonework, driveways, masonry repair, grading transitions, and hardscape renovation. Good hardscape should organize movement, grade, access, planting, and the relationship between the house and the larger property—not simply add more surface area.
New planting, mature landscape renovation, screening, soil improvement, lawn transitions, irrigation integration, and phased property improvement. Living Earth designs and installs landscapes with mature size, long-term maintenance, foliage, texture, and the larger site relationship in mind.
Downspout piping, catch basins, French drains, dry wells, swales, rain gardens, sump-pump discharge, ditch work, drainage correction, and site-water planning. The goal is to understand where the water is coming from, where it should go, and how to move or manage it without creating a new problem somewhere else.
A drainage problem may affect hardscape. A deck may change access. Planting may depend on irrigation, grading, or retaining. A pond combines water, equipment, stonework, planting, and maintenance.

New irrigation, repairs, controller updates, drip systems, sprinkler adjustments, zoning changes, troubleshooting, and irrigation integration during landscape renovation. Keith Hamm also provides QWEL-qualified irrigation audits and system evaluations for completion documentation and established landscapes.
QWEL-certified irrigation audits for new and rehabilitated landscapes in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties: distribution uniformity testing, pressure and coverage checks, irrigation schedules, and Irrigation Audit Reports for the MWELO Certificate of Completion. Existing systems can also be evaluated for water waste, runoff, and repair priorities.
Grading, excavation, trenching, land clearing, boulder and rip-rap placement, utility pole setting, post holes, footing preparation, gravel work, concrete breaking, small equipment-assisted demolition, and other site-improvement tasks. A mini skid steer with augers, rototiller, trencher, land plane, and breaker handles tight-access work, and excavators are rented in any size to match the project. Equipment is used as a tool to make the larger project safer, faster, and more practical—not as a service disconnected from the property need.
Path lighting, step lighting, water-feature lighting, accent lighting, system repairs, fixture replacement, and integration with new or renovated landscapes. Lighting should improve safety, extend enjoyment of the property after dark, and reveal the landscape without overwhelming it.
Full CAD landscape design with editable files, standalone master plans, multi-sheet working drawings, planting schedules and material take-offs. Site assessment, project management, phasing, DIY guidance and repair-versus-replacement consultation help define the work without requiring construction through Living Earth. AI-assisted concept renderings are distinct from CAD working plans.
Living Earth often returns to the same properties over many years for repairs, renovations, new work, maintenance, and evolving project needs. That continuity matters. Prior knowledge of the site, previous work, drainage, utilities, materials, client priorities, and maintenance history can make future decisions easier and more informed.

Living Earth Landscapes is based in McKinleyville, California (95519) and works on properties throughout northern Humboldt County. Conditions change noticeably from one town to the next, and the work is planned around them.
